Theatre of Consumption (2024-2026)

While looking at taste cultures and the spectacle of consumption, this body of work looks directly at the Theatre of Consumption, as consumption becomes a performance. What happens when the spectacle is focused on rather than care? Here, etiquette and the polite society are replaced by the grotesque and over-indulgence. By exaggerating the absurd rituals of excess, I create a circus gone wrong, where dominance is disguised as sophistication. In this grotesque feast and formaldehyde-filled products, it is not a question of who holds power, but how the performance of consumption within the spectacle trains us to ingest it and become it.

“Give them bread and circuses, and they will never revolt.”- Juvenal
